MOANA

This is your chance to make your voice as a CRNA heard! MoANA will be hosting a Legislative Reception for CRNAs and legislators on Tuesday, February 7 in the Carnagie Room at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. The entire Missouri General Assembly and all MoANA CRNA members and MoANA Student Representatives are invited to attend. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and last until about 8:00 p.m. We will serve food and drinks and this informal reception is the perfect opportunity to get to know your legislators a little better.

MoANA’s Lobby Day will be held on Wednesday, February 8. All CRNAs and Students are encouraged to attend. Please plan to arrive at the Capitol Plaza Hotel (located at 415 W. McCarty) at 8:00 a.m. We have the Carnegie Room reserved. President Vicki Coopmans and GR Chairs Ann Lewis and Shelli Meers will address the group at 8:30 and at 9:00 we will have a short briefing by our lobbyists.

CRNAs will be grouped with students and begin making legislative visits. All attending CRNA members who provide e-mail addresses will receive “update” materials prior to Lobby Day to assist with the visits. Hotels

Please note that hotels rooms sell out quickly in Jefferson City this time of year. If you are interested in staying in Jefferson City the evening before Lobby Day (February 7), the hotel phone numbers below may be helpful. We do NOT have a specific room block, but there are a variety of hotel options in Jefferson City:

Capitol Plaza Hotel – 573-635-1234 (415 W. McCarty, just a couple of blocks from the Capitol)

Doubletree Hotel – 573-636-5101 (422 Monroe, just a few blocks from the Capitol)

These are just two hotels nearest the Capitol.

Parking

Schedule

On February 8th we will be changing our morning routine a bit, and we will hold the morning briefings AT THE CAPITOL PLAZA HOTEL in the Carnegie Room at 8:30 a.m. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Capitol – not a terrible walk, but I definitely recommend comfortable shoes and that you try to carry as little as possible. (There is nowhere in the Capitol to store purses, coats, etc.)

We hope the new meeting space will make a better atmosphere to listen to John’s information and more easily allow GR Chairs Ann Lewis and Shelli Meers to assign groups for legislative visits. We will have blank adhesive name badges available, but you may bring your own (from your school or workplace) if you prefer. Please also bring your business cards or you may use the generic MoANA cards that allow you to fill in your contact information.

We will plan to serve pizza at about 11:00 a.m. in Hearing Room 2 in the Capitol Basement. You may want to bring along a water bottle or a soda. There are also numerous vending machines and a cafeteria available.
